UNAC/UHCP app – Privacy Policy
Last updated September 24, 2026
This policy covers the UNAC/UHCP member app for iPhone, iPad and Android (the “app”). The app is for members of the United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP). It is published in the app stores by Compuwork USA Inc. (CPWK), which builds and operates the app and its servers for the union. The union's own website has a separate policy at unacuhcp.org/privacy-policy; this page describes the app.
No accounts are created in the app
Membership accounts are issued by the union in its membership system, Memberlink. The app signs you in to your existing Memberlink account; it does not create accounts and has no registration.
What the app handles and why
- Sign-in. Your Memberlink username and password are sent to the union's app servers, which use them to open your Memberlink session. The app keeps your username, password and the session cookies on your device and sends them with each request to the app servers, so you stay signed in. They are removed from the device when you log out.
- Forgotten password. If you use “Forgot your password?”, the username and email address you enter are sent to the union's app servers, which pass them to Memberlink. If they match your membership record, Memberlink emails you a link to reset your password.
- Your member information. Your name, contact details, address and membership status are read from Memberlink so the app can show them. Changes you make in the app (address, email, username, password) are passed to Memberlink.
- Forms you submit. The answers and signature on an objection form, including the union affiliate and workplace it concerns, are sent to the app servers, which file the form in Memberlink for you. A form filled in without a connection is kept on your device until it can be sent, and is only ever sent under your own sign-in.
- Documents. Documents you open are downloaded through the app servers and kept on your device so they open faster; they are removed when you log out.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, your device's notification token is registered with the app servers together with your username and name, so the union can send you notifications. You can decline, or turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
- How the app is used. The app records which screens you open and whether its requests to the app servers worked, to keep the app working. These records go to a logging server run by the union's developer and are labelled with a random identifier, not your username. When a form is sent, names, email addresses, your own words and your signature are not recorded – only how long they were.
What the app does not do
- It shows no advertising and contains no advertising services.
- It does not track you across other apps or websites, and it does not use your device's advertising identifier.
- It does not sell or rent your information.
- It does not send crash reports.
Who receives your information
The union's app servers and logging server, run for the union by its developer; Memberlink, the union's membership system; and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (Apple Push Notification service) only to deliver notifications. Information is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
How long it is kept
Your membership record belongs to the union and is kept in Memberlink under the union's own practices. The app's servers keep notification registrations and usage records only to operate the app. Your sign-in, cookies, downloaded documents and notification token are removed from your device when you log out. A form you filled in without a connection stays on the device until it can be sent under your own sign-in, even if you log out in the meantime. You can ask for your information to be deleted at any time (below).
Your choices and requests
- You can change your address, email, username and password in the app under Make Changes.
- To ask for a copy of your information, or for it to be deleted, contact the union using the details below and say what you are asking for.
Withdrawing consent
You can stop the app handling your information at any time:
- turn notifications off in your device settings, which stops new notifications being sent to the device;
- log out, which removes your sign-in, cookies, downloaded documents and notification token from the device;
- delete the app;
- ask the union (below) to delete the information its servers hold about your use of the app, including your notification registration.
Children
The app is for union members and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
